1950
OUR ROOTS
Originally from Abruzzo, the Passalacqua family reached the Tavoliere delle Puglie plateau. Giulia and Pietro, dedicated to the noble rural art of transhumance, were the first to settle in this part of Puglia.

1980
TOWARDS AGRICULTURE
From nomadic herding, the family decided to turn to agriculture, settling permanently in the area. This prophetic and important change came about thanks to the courage of their son Nino, who decided to purchase several plots of land on the slopes of the Gargano National Park, most of which still serve as the land for Bio Orto's vegetables and fruit.

1985
The organic tomato
The cultivation of organic tomatoes for the production of sauce begins.

2002

The first plant for the processing and packaging of organic fruit and vegetables is opened.

2008
from father to son
Bio Orto Società Cooperativa Agricola was born, today led by Nino together with his children Giulia, with her husband Mirko, Tiziano and Nino Jr.

2016

The Bio Orto oil mill is born with a technologically advanced olive milling system.

The Preserves
The cannery is built.
The factory is where all Bio Orto tomato preserves and vegetable creams are prepared.
